Steel grating is the workhorse floor of heavy industry: open-mesh panels of load-bearing steel bars used for walkways, mezzanines, platforms, stair treads, trench covers and drainage in power plants, refineries, ports and municipal infrastructure. GoGrating fabricates steel bar grating factory-direct in Anping, Hebei — China's wire-mesh and grating capital, where more than 70% of the country's output is produced and over 800 fabrication plants operate within a 30 km radius. That density means deep tooling availability, fast turnaround and honest factory pricing without trading-company markups.
Every panel we ship is a custom order built against your project specifications — bar size, pitch, panel dimensions, banding and surface finish — not pulled from a stock catalogue. EPC contractors, procurement engineers and importers across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, Australia and Latin America source from us for projects ranging from a single platform to multi-container plant packages. Browse typical industrial applications, or request a quote with your drawings or BOQ — CAD files are welcome.
Steel grating (also called steel bar grating) is a grid of parallel load-bearing flat bars — the bearing bars — joined at right angles by cross bars. Two fabrication methods dominate. In forge-welded grating, twisted or round cross bars are fused to the bearing bars under high pressure and electric current, producing a permanent homogeneous joint. In press-locked grating, cross bars are hydraulically pressed into pre-slotted bearing bars for a flush, architectural-grade grid. Both yield panels with roughly 70–85% open area, so light, air and liquids pass straight through while the floor carries pedestrian or vehicle loads.
The most common base material is Q235 low-carbon steel, finished hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 for outdoor and marine-adjacent service, or supplied painted or untreated (black) for indoor and to-be-coated work. Stainless steel 304 and 316 grades cover corrosive and hygienic environments. Where chemicals, salt spray or electrical conductivity rule out steel entirely, our FRP grating line is the non-metallic alternative.
Welded steel grating is the general-purpose standard — strong, economical and suited to most platforms and walkways. Press-locked grating offers a clean, flush appearance favored for architectural and commercial work. Heavy-duty grating uses taller, thicker bearing bars (up to 100 × 9 mm) for forklift traffic, road trench covers and crane-rail areas.
Serrated grating adds notched bearing-bar tops for slip resistance on oily or wet decks and offshore platforms. Hot-dip galvanized grating carries a zinc coating per ASTM A123 for decades of outdoor corrosion protection, while stainless steel grating in 304/316 serves food, pharmaceutical and chemical plants. For cut-outs, curved panels, special pitches or banded stair treads, our custom grating service fabricates directly from your drawings.
Because grating is made to order, specifications are ranges rather than fixed SKUs. Bearing bars run from 20 × 3 mm for light pedestrian duty up to 100 × 9 mm for heavy vehicular loads. Bar spacing follows the metric 30 mm / 40 mm pitch series under YB/T 4001.1, or the imperial 19-space (30.16 mm) and 15-space (23.81 mm) series under ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531 for projects specified to US standards. Cross bars are typically twisted square or round at 50 mm or 100 mm centers, and panels are cut, banded and toe-plated to your layout drawings.
We deliberately do not publish generic load figures: safe load depends on bar section, span, fixing and the standard your project is certified against. Contact our engineers for load tables calculated to your span and design code — production runs under ISO 9001 with CE marking available.
Four factors drive selection. Load: pedestrian-only walkways accept smaller bearing bars; pallet trucks, forklifts or wheel loads call for heavy-duty sections — share your load case and span and we will size the bar. Environment: outdoor, coastal or chemical exposure points to hot-dip galvanized or stainless 304/316; severe chemistry may favor FRP instead. Span: the clear distance between supports determines required bar height — longer spans need taller bars, not just thicker ones. Surface: choose plain tops for general service or serrated for slip-critical areas.
If you already have drawings, the fastest route is to send them with your quote request. Our team reviews specs against YB/T 4001.1 or MBG 531, flags anything ambiguous before production, and returns shop drawings for approval — so what arrives on site matches what your engineer designed.

Yes — that is our standard workflow. Send CAD, PDF or scanned drawings with your quote request and we fabricate to your bar sizes, pitches, panel layouts, cut-outs and banding details. Before production we return shop drawings for your approval, so dimensions are confirmed by your engineer first.
There is no rigid MOQ — orders are quoted per project. Small trial orders can ship LCL, while full plant packages move in containers. Because every run is custom-fabricated, consolidating panel types and finishes into one order generally improves per-unit economics and lead time.
Fabrication typically takes two to four weeks depending on quantity, bar sizes and whether hot-dip galvanizing is specified, plus sea freight to your port. We confirm a firm production and shipping schedule with every quotation rather than quoting a one-size-fits-all promise.
We manufacture to YB/T 4001.1 (Chinese national series) and ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531 (US series), with hot-dip galvanizing per ASTM A123. Production runs under an ISO 9001 quality system and CE marking is available. Tell us which standard your project is certified against and we fabricate accordingly.
