Custom Steel Grating — Engineered Fabrication Services

When standard panels don't fit the structure, we fabricate steel grating to your drawings — odd shapes, cutouts, reinforcements, and welded details, engineered and produced factory-direct in Anping, China.

Quick AnswerCustom steel grating fabrication is the engineering and production of grating panels built to project-specific dimensions — non-standard sizes, cutouts, reinforcements, and welded attachments — instead of stock sheets. GoGrating fabricates to YB/T 4001.1 and ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531 from its Anping, China factory, working directly from your drawings or CAD files through design, fabrication, and export packing.

Custom Steel Grating Fabrication — Engineered to Your Specs

Most grating projects are not rectangles. Platforms wrap around columns, walkways follow pipe racks, trench covers meet odd-angled walls, and mezzanines need openings for ladders, drains, and equipment. That is why GoGrating runs a custom-order fabrication business, not a stock-SKU catalog: every panel is made to your project specifications, from bearing bar selection through final cutouts and welded details.

We fabricate from Anping, Hebei — China's wire-mesh and grating capital, where more than 70% of the country's output is produced and 800+ fabrication plants operate within 30 km. That concentration gives EPC contractors, procurement engineers, and importers direct access to deep fabrication capacity without trading-company markups. All work follows YB/T 4001.1 and ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531, with hot-dip galvanizing to ASTM A123, under an ISO 9001 quality system. Non-standard sizes and shapes. Bearing bars from 20×3 mm up to 100×9 mm, in 30/40/60 mm metric pitches or 19-space and 15-space series, cut to the lengths and widths your layout drawing calls for — including trapezoids, triangles, and radius-cut panels for circular tanks and vessel platforms. Panel dimensions are made to order rather than pulled from a fixed size list.

Cutouts, openings, and reinforcement. We cut pipe penetrations, column notches, drain openings, and instrument access holes, then band the cut edges with welded flat bar so no bearing bar is left unsupported. Where a cutout interrupts load paths — or where forklift and cart traffic concentrates loads — we add reinforcing bars or step up the bearing bar section so the panel still performs as engineered. We do not publish generic load claims; engineered load tables are prepared per project against the governing standard.

Welded attachments and finishing. Toe plates (kick plates), hinges for access hatches, lifting lugs, angle frames for trench and pit covers, and saddle clips are welded on before surface treatment, so the entire assembly is protected in one process. Finish options include hot-dip galvanized per ASTM A123, untreated mill finish for buyers who coat locally, painted, and stainless steel 304/316 for corrosive or hygienic environments. For chemically aggressive or conductive-restricted areas, our FRP grating line — molded and pultruded, in orthophthalic, isophthalic, and vinyl ester resins — can be fabricated to the same drawings.

Our Custom Fabrication Process

1. Design review. Send drawings in DWG/DXF, STEP, or PDF — or a dimensioned sketch and photos if formal drawings don't exist yet. Our engineers check spans, support conditions, and bar selection against YB/T 4001.1 or ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531, flag anything unbuildable, and return a confirmed fabrication drawing for your approval before any steel is cut. 2. Material preparation. Bearing bar and cross bar stock is verified against mill test certificates; stainless 304/316 material is segregated and traceable.

3. Fabrication. Panels are pressure-welded, then cut, notched, banded, and fitted with welded attachments per the approved drawing. 4. Quality inspection. Dimensions, weld integrity, flatness, and galvanizing coating thickness (per ASTM A123) are checked against the drawing, with inspection records available for your QA file; CE documentation is provided where required. 5. Packing and delivery. Panels are bundled on steel pallets or in frames suited to sea freight, marked per piece against the layout drawing so site crews can install without sorting. We ship regularly to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, Australia, and Latin America.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fabricate grating from our CAD drawings or do you need a formal specification?

Either works. We accept DWG/DXF, STEP, and PDF drawings, or a dimensioned sketch with span and load requirements. Our engineers convert your input into a fabrication drawing for approval before production, selecting bearing bar size and pitch per YB/T 4001.1 or ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531.

Is there a minimum order quantity for custom steel grating?

Because every order is fabricated to project specs rather than pulled from stock, MOQ depends on panel complexity and finish. Single-platform packages and trial orders for new distributors are both common — send your drawing through our request-a-quote page and we'll confirm feasibility and lead time.

What is the typical lead time for custom-fabricated grating?

Lead time depends on quantity, cutout complexity, and surface treatment — hot-dip galvanizing adds a processing step versus mill finish. After drawing approval we confirm a firm production schedule, and Anping's concentrated supply chain keeps material sourcing fast even for non-standard bar sections.

Do you provide load tables for custom panels?

Yes — engineered load tables are prepared per project for your specific bar size, pitch, and span, referenced to ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531 or YB/T 4001.1. We deliberately don't publish generic load numbers, since cutouts and reinforcements change panel behavior. Request load data with your quote.
