Installation

Grating Installation Guides

Installation quality depends on the support layout, panel orientation, restraint method and condition of every field cut—not simply on placing panels over an opening.

Decision first

Confirm the approved drawing, clear span, bearing-bar direction, support width and fixing schedule before any panel is cut or installed.

Guide index

Use the guide that matches the work

These guides separate steel and FRP procedures because their handling, cutting and attachment requirements are not interchangeable. Each guide identifies the inputs that must come from the project engineer, approved shop drawing or product manufacturer.

  • Steel grating: orientation, support, clips or welding, cutouts and final inspection.
  • FRP grating: bearing direction, panel clearance, field cutting, sealing and manufacturer-approved clips.
  • Fasteners: choose restraint by substrate, removability, vibration and corrosion environment.

What this library does not replace

The pages are procurement and installation-planning aids. They do not approve a span, connection, fall-protection system or structural repair. OSHA states that structural-integrity repairs to walking-working surfaces must be performed or supervised by a qualified person; local rules and the project specification may impose additional requirements.
