How is steel grating installed and fixed?

Quick answer

Grating panels sit on supporting beams and are secured with grating clips (saddle clips or G-clips) bolted around the bearing bars, or by welding to the supports. Clips allow removal for access; welding is permanent.

A typical fix uses a clip above and a saddle below the bearing bar, bolted together to clamp the panel to the support — fast, removable and code-compliant. Panels should overlap supports by a minimum bearing length and be banded at cut edges.

For permanent installations panels can be tack-welded, but clips are preferred where panels must be lifted for maintenance access. We can supply matching clips and banding with your order.
