What is trench and drainage grating?

Quick answer

Trench grating is bar grating cut to cover drainage channels and trenches, letting water through while carrying foot or vehicle loads. It is sized to the channel width and the traffic load, and can be hinged or boltdown for security.

Drainage applications need the right bar spacing — fine enough to be safe underfoot (and bicycle/heel safe in public areas) yet open enough to pass the design flow. Load class is set by whether the trench sees pedestrians, cars or trucks.

We fabricate trench covers to the channel dimensions with the bearing direction across the trench, banded edges and optional locking devices, in galvanized steel or FRP.
