What is stainless steel grating used for?

Quick answer

Stainless steel grating (typically 304 or 316) is used where corrosion resistance and hygiene matter but steel-level strength is still needed — food and beverage, pharmaceutical, marine and chemical plants. It costs more than galvanized steel but needs no coating.

Grade 316 resists chlorides and is favoured for coastal and chemical service, while 304 suits general corrosion and hygienic washdown areas. Stainless keeps the strength and stiffness of steel without a sacrificial zinc coating to maintain.

Where the environment is corrosive but loads are heavy, stainless bridges the gap between galvanized steel and FRP; we supply it welded or press-locked to your specification.
