What are the standard sizes of steel grating?
Quick answer
Bearing bars commonly run from 20×3 mm up to 100×10 mm, with bar spacing around 19, 30 or 38 mm and cross bars at about 50 or 100 mm. Stock panels are often 1 m × 6 m, but because grating is custom-made, sizes are cut to your project.
Common bearing-bar depths are 25, 30, 32, 40, 50, 65 and 75 mm; thicker bars (5–6 mm) and closer spacing carry more load. Panel length is usually limited by the galvanizing bath and shipping, not the product.
Rather than force your design to a stock size, we cut panels and banding to your exact dimensions, so tell us the opening and load and we will confirm the bar and panel layout.
